Hyundai Creta Electric bookings open January 2025

Hyundai Creta Electric

Hey there, auto enthusiasts! It’s an exciting start to 2025 as Hyundai India gears up to make waves with its first mass-market electric SUV, the Creta Electric. With its debut just around the corner at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo (BMGE) on January 17, we’ve got all the juicy details about its design, features, and how it stacks up against the regular Creta. Let’s dive right in!

What’s New in the Creta Electric’s Design?

The Hyundai Creta Electric stays true to the standard Creta’s silhouette but adds a sprinkle of EV-specific magic. The most striking update is the pixel-themed design, a signature of Hyundai’s EV lineup. Up front, the sealed-off grille and air dam, along with active air flaps (borrowed from the Ioniq 5), give it a futuristic vibe while improving aerodynamics. You’ll also notice the front camera is now above the Hyundai logo, which cleverly hides the charging port underneath. The slimmer and sharper silver skid plate is another cool touch.

Moving to the sides, the EV gets unique alloy wheels designed for better airflow and a blacked-out C-pillar on dual-tone variants (replacing the silver finish from the ICE version). At the rear, subtle changes include a reworked bumper with a slimmer reflector pair, angular skid plates, and an additional reversing light. Oh, and don’t miss the ‘electric’ badge on the boot gate — it’s all about making a statement!

A Splash of Creta EV Colours

Hyundai is taking things up a notch with the Creta Electric’s color palette. There are 10 options, including three matte finishes and two dual-tone shades. The all-new Ocean Blue metallic with a Black Roof is sure to turn heads, alongside classics like Starry Night, Fiery Red, and Atlas White with Black Roof. For reference, the regular Creta offers seven color options, so this is a nice little upgrade.

Creta Electric Interiors Familiar Yet Futuristic

Step inside, and you’ll find a cabin that shares much with the standard Creta but with some EV-specific upgrades. The steering wheel is borrowed from the Kona EV, and the Ioniq 5-inspired drive mode selector adds a premium touch. Features which are dual 10.25-inch screens for instrumentation and infotainment, a panoramic sunroof and ADAS are returned. Top trims also get goodies like digital key functionality, in-car payment for charging, single-pedal driving, and vehicle-to-load (V2L) charging capabilities.

The center console has been reimagined to house buttons for the electronic parking brake, auto-hold function, and drive modes, thanks to the shift-by-wire system. Dual-zone climate control, a 360-degree camera setup, and an 8-speaker Bose audio system round out the tech-laden package.

Creta Electric Power and Performance

The Creta Electric comes with two battery pack options: 42kWh (390km range) and 51.4kWh (473km range). The smaller battery powers a 135hp motor, while the larger one boosts output to 171hp. Hyundai claims the long-range variant can go from 0-100kph in just 7.9 seconds, making it quicker than the Creta N Line DCT. Charging is a breeze too — a 60kW DC fast charger juices up the battery from 10-80% in 58 minutes, while an 11kW AC charger takes about 4 hours for a full charge.

Safety First

The Creta Electric doesn’t skimp on safety either. It features Level 2 ADAS with lane keep assist, forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control. Rear disc brakes, six airbags, hill-start and descent assist, ESC, and ISOFIX anchors are all part of the package. The Excellence trim adds rain-sensing wipers and front parking sensors for that extra layer of convenience.

Creta Electric Variants and Rivals

Hyundai will offer the Creta Electric in five trims: Executive, Smart, Smart (O), Premium, and Excellence. Creta Electric bookings are already open for a token amount of Rs 25,000 (except for the base Executive trim). Direct rivals include the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, and upcoming models like the Maruti e Vitara and Mahindra BE 6.
