Meet the Machines

1. Brixton Cromwell 1200

First up, the Cromwell 1200—a retro roadster that instantly reminds you of the golden age of British motorcycles. It’s powered by a robust 1222cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that pumps out 83PS at 6,550rpm and a solid 108Nm of torque at just 3,100rpm. Pair that with a 6-speed gearbox, and you’re ready for a smooth ride, whether on the highway or city streets.

The bike is heavy, with a kerb weight of 235kg, but it promises to handle beautifully thanks to its KYB telescopic fork and twin rear shock absorbers. Add to that its 18-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheels wrapped in road-biased tyres, and you’ve got a classy roadster ready for adventure. Plus, the dual-channel ABS braking system ensures safety, while its round TFT console offers both Sport and Eco display modes. At ₹7.83 lakh (ex-showroom), this is a head-turner that blends old-school charm with modern tech.

2. Brixton Cromwell 1200 X

The Cromwell 1200 X takes everything great about the standard version and adds a scrambler twist. It’s got block-pattern tyres for dual-purpose use, giving it an edge on rugged terrains. Mechanically, it’s identical to the Cromwell 1200 but brings a distinct personality that screams adventure.

What’s more, this scrambler is a limited edition—only 100 units will be sold in India. If exclusivity and off-road styling are your thing, be prepared to shell out ₹9.10 lakh (ex-showroom).

3. Brixton Crossfire 500 X

The Crossfire 500 X is the kind of bike that makes you stop and stare. Its neo-retro cafe racer design oozes style and sharpness, and under the hood, it packs a 486cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine delivering 47.85PS and 43Nm of torque. The engine pairs perfectly with a 6-speed gearbox for spirited rides.

What I love about this bike is its suspension setup—fully adjustable USD forks and a preload-and-rebound-adjustable monoshock. It rolls on 17-inch alloys, making it an ideal companion for city commutes or weekend getaways. At ₹4.74 lakh (ex-showroom), it’s a lot of bike for the money.

4. Brixton Crossfire 500 XC

The Crossfire 500 XC builds on the X variant, but with a more rugged, scrambler-like design. It gets a 19-inch front wheel and 17-inch rear wheel, wrapped in dual-purpose tyres for better off-road performance. The suspension offers longer travel—150mm at the front and 130mm at the rear—making it more adventure-friendly.

At ₹5.19 lakh (ex-showroom), the XC is perfect for anyone looking to blend off-road capability with city convenience.

Don’t Forget the VLF Tennis e-Scooter

While the bikes are undoubtedly the stars of the show, Brixton didn’t come alone. They brought along the VLF Tennis 1500W, an electric scooter that’s as stylish as it is practical. With its neo-retro Italian-inspired design, a 1.5kW motor, and a top speed of 65km/h, it’s a solid option for urban commutes.

The 2.5kWh battery offers a claimed range of 130km, making it not just premium but also practical. At ₹1.29 lakh (ex-showroom), it’s an exciting addition to the premium e-scooter market.

What This Means for India

It’s about time we had more options in the retro and neo-retro motorcycle segment, and Brixton’s arrival is a breath of fresh air. Partnering with Kolhapur-based Motohaus, Brixton has ensured that these bikes are brought to India via the CKD route, maintaining a competitive price point for what’s on offer.

With bookings already open for ₹2,999 and deliveries starting in January 2025, I can’t wait to see these machines on the road. Whether you’re into roadsters, scramblers, or cafe racers, Brixton has something for everyone. And for those leaning towards electric mobility, the VLF Tennis is a great option.

So, what’s your pick? Let me know in the comments—I’m personally torn between the Cromwell 1200 X and the Crossfire 500 XC!
