Hyundai Creta EV Launching January 17

Hyundai Creta EV

Exciting news for EV enthusiasts! Hyundai is gearing up to unveil the highly anticipated Hyundai Creta EV on January 17, 2025, at the Bharat Mobility Show in New Delhi. If you’re planning to attend the event, make sure to swing by Hyundai’s stall to catch the Creta EV in person. It’ll be sharing the spotlight with another stunner – the futuristic Ioniq 9 EV.

A Familiar Design with an Electric Twist

Hyundai appears to be adopting a conservative approach to the Creta EV’s design. Unlike some bold and radical electric SUVs out there, the Hyundai Creta EV will stick close to its ICE-powered sibling’s design. Of course, there will be some distinct touches to set it apart – think a closed grille, redesigned bumpers, and fresh-looking alloy wheels.

Inside the Cabin – Alcazar Vibes

Step inside, and you’ll notice some elements borrowed from the Alcazar, Hyundai’s three-row SUV. The Hyundai Creta EV will feature a restyled center console with cup holders, buttons for cooled seats, electronic parking brake, and 360-degree camera controls. The three-spoke steering wheel and drive selector near the steering column give the cabin a modern, EV-specific feel.

Other standout features? A twin-screen setup for the instrument cluster and infotainment, physical controls for added convenience, and updated software with EV-centric functionality. Hyundai’s clearly aiming for a balance of familiarity and tech-forward design here.

Powertrain and Battery

Let’s talk performance. The Hyundai Creta EV will come with a 45kWh battery pack, which is smaller than rivals like the MG ZS EV and the upcoming Maruti eVX. However, it’s on par with the entry-level Tata Curvv EV. With a 138hp front-axle motor generating 255Nm of torque, the Creta EV promises a robust and reliable driving experience. This motor is the same one used in the latest-gen Kona EV, which has proven itself globally.

Competitors in the Game

Hyundai has some tough competition lined up. The Hyundai Creta EV will take on the likes of the Mahindra BE 6e, Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, and the highly anticipated Maruti e Vitara, which will also make its debut at the Bharat Mobility Show. With Hyundai’s track record, though, I’m betting the Creta EV will hold its own with competitive pricing and a well-rounded package.

Production and Deliveries

Hyundai plans to produce about 24,000 units annually, with deliveries kicking off as early as February 2025. It’s clear that Hyundai is aiming to make the Creta EV a mass-market option in India’s rapidly growing EV space.

If you’re in the market for an electric SUV that blends practicality, performance, and style, the Hyundai Creta EV is shaping up to be a strong contender. Mark your calendars for January 17, and let’s see what Hyundai has in store for us!
